World Series odds a three-team race as MLB schedule hits the home stretch | News Article by Sportsbettinghandicapper.com

The baseball season is entering the home stretch, with the postseason picture taking form in the final weeks of September.

According to the World Series odds, there are just a handful of clubs that have a real shot of winning the Fall Classic. So, here’s a closer look at those MLB betting trends favorites as the regular season wraps up.

Houston Astros +230
The 2017 World Series champs take 91 wins into the weekend. The Astros were among the top three choices to win the World Series all season but broke away from the pack at the trade deadline when the clubs acquired ace Zack Greinke from the Arizona Diamondbacks. He’s part of a pitching rotation that features “fresh off a no-hitter” Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole (2.81 ERA), and left hander Wade Miley.

Oh, and did we mention the Astros can slug too? Houston plates on average 5.56 runs per game – fourth in the big leagues – and also ranks fourth in total home runs hit, along with a .274 BA (second best in the majors). But wait, there’s more. The Stros have been smashing the ball since the break, scoring 6.4 runs per outing since the Mid-Summer Classic.

Los Angeles Dodgers +250
Is 2019 finally the year the Dodgers breakthrough and win the World Series? Los Angeles has claimed back-to-back National League pennants only to lose to the Astros and Boston Red Sox in the past two world championships. The Dodgers do own 92 wins heading into this weekend’s action, which ties them for first overall in the bigs. Much like Houston, L.A. has a strong starting staff, headlined by All-Star Game starter Hyun-Jin Ryu, future HoFer Clayton Kershaw, and budding ace Walker Buehler. And, like the Astros, L.A. has a solid bullpen backing up those arms (3.97 collective ERA).

The Dodgers are just behind Houston in terms of offensive power, scoring 5.51 runs an outing while batting a team .260 BA – eighth in the major leagues. Los Angeles does have a tough slate of games to finish the 2019 regular season, playing 12 of its final 17 games on the road. That could be troublesome, since the Dodgers are just 37-32 away from Chavez Ravine this season.

New York Yankees +425
Rounding out the three-horse race for the World Series are the New York Yankees, who have bashed their way to the top of the American League. The Yankees put 5.79 runs per game on the board, fueled by a lineup hitting a 263 home runs and owning collective a slugging percentage of .489 – second-best in the bigs.

Where New York falls back of Houston and Los Angeles is on the mound, where the Yankees sit in the middle of the road with a 4.39 ERA. Masahiro Tanaka is the staff ace and still posts an ERA north of 4.00, with starters like Domingo German, James Paxton, and JA Happ rounding out the rotation. Not exactly a group making batters sweat in the box. New York does have a solid bullpen working behind those guys, owning a group ERA of 4.10 with fire-balling closer Aroldis Chapman earning 36 saves so far in 2019 – most in the AL.
