The Miami Dolphins are currently 13th in the AFC, compared to the Carolina Panthers who are 10th in the NFC, but Carolina’s playoff hopes are more likely when you consider they are only 0.5 games behind sixth place. It’s important that this season will be the first with seven teams earning playoff spots within each conference.
In short, the Carolina Panthers are in the thick of it and have a lot riding on this upcoming matchup.
Cam Newton returned two weeks ago, and the hope for their franchise is that his return can help lead them to a playoff berth. In two games, he has completed 77.4% of his passes for 197 yards and three passing touchdowns. He has also rushed 13 times for five first downs and two additional scores.
This boost in production has been well received since the injury to Sam Darnold.
Alternatively, the Miami Dolphins have won their past two games. Tua Tagovailoa has seemingly turned a corner in the midst of a relatively injury plaguing season. In that time, Tua has completed 76% of his passes for 431 yards, while also adding three touchdowns (two pass, one rush).
The outcome of this matchup will be predicated on the defense that can best slow down their respective opponent’s ascending quarterback.
