USA World Cup Outlook | News Article by Sportsbettinghandicapper.com

The World is coming together for the largest single sporting event starting Sunday morning. The Nation of Qatar bribed its way to get to host this event and we are hopeful that it goes off without a hitch, but doubtful that will be the case.

The United States was able to get back to this stage after the USMNT did not qualify for the 2018 tournament. The qualifying run for the US was not great, but by getting quality results against Mexico and some terrible Concacaf teams they were able to make it to the show.

When the USMNT failed to qualify in 2017 for the 2018 tournament, it led to a change in the program. They Hired Gregg Berhalter, and since then they have developed a lot of young talent that has grown into stars.

This group has been able to beat Mexico three times in a row for the first time since 2007.

This team could be the most talented US team that we have been able to send to the world cup in a long time, however, they are not without questions. They are not secured at the striker position at all, and they are going to be without studs, Miles Robinson and Chris Richards.

Goalie Matt Turner has not been playing for Arsenal at all, but he will be in goal for the US in Qatar. Christian Pulisic is going to need to take some big strides for the US to get anywhere in this tournament.

Coming into the tournament which starts for the US on November 21 against Wales, the US has been sputtering a bit. Japan beat the US 2-0 and then tied Saudi Arabia. This should be a serious cause for concern, but since this is the first World Cup action for the US since 2014, there is more excitement than anything around this team.

Their Group includes Wales, England, and Iran. They are going to have to take care of business against Iran and hope to get a win against Wales or England, but they will need to at least pull out a tie in one of these to have a chance to advance past the group stage.

This is not a “group of death,” as they should be favored to win 2 of the games, but Iran and Wales both have some elite players, while not as deep, that could cause serious issues for the United States. They need to get to the knockout stage for this unit to feel like they are ready to take the next step.
