The battle of the sophomore quarterbacks is going down this Sunday. Justin Herbert and the 6-5 Los Angeles Chargers will be facing Joe Burrow and the 7-4 Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.
The Chargers need this win desperately to stay in the Wild Card and AFC West divisional race, while the Bengals would still be safe if they lost this game. The Bengals would be far away from the AFC North-leading Baltimore Ravens with a loss, but they would still have a Wild Card spot.
The Chargers have had a tough last few weeks. They are 2-2 with wins against the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers but crushing defeats against the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos.
The Chargers have shown that they can win games in the final minutes but also not execute in the final minutes. I cannot say this enough; the Chargers need this win.
The Bengals have been on a tear the last two weeks. They crushed their previous two opponents, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders, 41-10 and 32-13. They have built up a lot of momentum from their previous two wins and need to use it going into this game against a sometimes lethal Chargers offense.
On paper, the Bengals have the edge this week. They are playing at home and on a two-game winning streak. However, the Chargers are hungry for a win after last week’s defeat. Justin Herbert will return to form this week and lead his team to victory.
